Description:
redmrcrayon is here today with another one of his Battlefront Fun... wait. This is a map! Never mind.

redmrcrayon makes his mapping debut with this map, Coralac. It's a junk-filled map that looks fairly similar to Raxus Prime. It's got a few CPs, lots of objects, and what appear to be metal hills.

The map's pretty interesting. Its terrain is mostly metallic, which doesn't really work here since metal generally isn't as curvy as the terrain is. It's got a desert themed environment, though there are props from all sorts of areas located in the map. There are a few CPs around, though a couple of them seem to be invisible. The terrain is mostly very hilly and rugged, but not too steep to climb up on. There are a few destructible objects lying around as well for use as temporary cover.

Now, let's move on to the bad stuff. The map is too hilly, leading to some problems seeing other units and getting hit unexpectedly when coming over a hill. The terrain choice is strange, mostly because it's very hard to see other units against it, and from a real-world standpoint I don't believe that metal lays flat against hills like it does. Objects are everywhere, and the bots don't really seem to know how to negotiate them. They don't really seek out battle and it gets fairly boring after a while. There's also a distinct advantage to the clones or Empire- they cannot be won against by CP capturing because their starter CP is uncapturable. Finding bots in the maze of objects is quite difficult.

From a bug standpoint, there aren't too many- just the uncapturable CP i mentioned, mainly. There are also some oddly positioned objects, like the Geonosis cave clips out of the ground. Things that probably need to be fixed in the next version are planning, some steep terrain, object clipping, and the bugs mentioned above.

To sum it up, this map is a fairly standard first map. It's got lots of objects, strange terrain, no planning, and some bugs. I found that it also tended to be somewhat boring due to the difficulty finding people to shoot, but that could just be me.

At any rate, give it a download if the screenshots look interesting or you are looking for something new to play.

this map is in no way distributed or made by lucas arts
battlefront belongs to them however.

to install
just plop "AWE" into your addon folder in your gamedata folder. Very simple. If you have no clue what I just said, go to your battlefront 2 folder, enter the 'Game data' folder, create a new folder and rename that new folder 'Addon'. After that, place the folder 'AWE' into the Addon. Start battlefront, go to instant action, and select 'AWE'. Yay! You got it!

yup. That about sums it up. Like jedikiller said, there are many issues to iron out. I appreciate the feed back. I might destroy the cave altogether by the way. It is a pain in the neck to position. The sunk cp I noticed too today. More feed back is welcome. After all, I wouldn't want this to be the final product. That would just be sad. Also the easter egg is really cool...except the house for some reason keeps shrinking(?).

I plan to wok more on this some time in two weeks. Why? I had a great idea! I'm making a cool map right now, and I will take into account what was wrong with my first map.

Hmmmm....I tried mapping but I couldn't do it because the readme didn't say how to munge the level or something. Anyway, nice work. l like maps that aren't the typical city or forest. Good luck to you!

I have come to the conclusion that Jedikiller must either have a really old monitor, or have the lighting settings low. First he said this about my map: "The ground texture is extremely dark, so much so that I thought it was just black. It's not, actually- it's a very dark green." Then critiqued this map's terrain; I could see the hostiles just fine in this map.
It's a good first attempt 5/10.

I've used two different computers and monitors to write these reviews and have the brightness at default. Different monitors display colors differently. Yours may be set to a higher level of brightness than mine is, or it may use a panel type which displays colors differently.

In reference to the terrain of this map in particular, I was speaking more to the units blending in to the terrain more than their not being visible at all.

I'm thinking of changing the terrain on the ground to a kind of rubble/dusty kind of look and leaving the hills on the sides' texture alone. The hills will be reduced (in the center) and some objects like the steps will be destroyed (and the random walkway sticking up in the middle hill. I will add dirty water when I learn how (someone help!!) and improve barriers and planning. Any suggestions that I need to know? Tell me.

Ok, so I'm not releasing full version today (too many tech bloopers), however, I HAVE made it incredibly more fun. Yay! I fixed pathing. Now, I need someone to tell me how to add mist or dust. Further more, the textures hate me and won't show up ingame. Grrr...
