Duulan: Vengance (1.0) - File Description  


Description:
"Duulan: Canyon Village," by Ty294, is a large open-field map in an environment that is essentially a cross between Naboo and Kashyyyk (Islands).

I'm not a huge fan of big, open maps like this, but for what it is, it's a nice design. The problems inherent with big open maps are all there - lots of running around required - but the CPs are spaced out pretty evenly, so at least it's a consistent experience. While the author made an effort to vary up the terrain by including props (mostly clustered around the CP areas) and rolling hills, it would be nice to see a little more in the way of scattered props in the big open field - if not for cover, than at least for variety.

I did notice a couple of minor issues - there appeared to be at least one explosion texture that didn't have a proper alpha, as I could see the edges of the texture (it's very obvious where the borders of the texture cards are). Also, lots of the terrain wasn't very smooth or realistic - some of the jagged edges of the terrain feel very unnatural, especially in a setting where hills would normally be very rounded-off. Finally, the CP in the center repurposes some Hoth tunnels, and they're not quite lined up correctly - it's easy to see where props start and end. This should be fixed.

All in all, it's a decent map, although I'd like to see the action move towards close-quarters a little better, and I'd like to see a touch more polish. Give the map a try if it looks good.

Description: Here is the final map in the Duulan saga. It is also my final map for Battlefront 1 as I amm going to convert over to Battlefront 2 after this. Thanks to SWBF1 for a long time of great modding and to the BF1 Modding Community for support and help over the years!


Story: After a valiant defense in the mountains, the Duulanians continued to hold back the Republic advance, long enough for a single ship to escape through the Republic blockade and reach the CIS with a plea for help. More than willing to have the resource-rich Duulan join their ranks, the Confederate leadership quickly dispatched an assault force, which broke through the Republic fleet and landed troops on the planet surface. The Separatist droids linked up with Duulanian militiamen and togather they launched a joint campaign to drive the Republic off Duulan forever...


Credits:

*Gogo12/Ginev - Gogo12 basicly made what was a lame, boring map into something worth playing. Without his help, this map may never have been finished. Thanks a ton buddy!

*AQR and Fragme! - For the scaled-up Super Battle Droid. If I missed somebody here, credits to you too.

*skyhammer_216 - For the sky's_Model_pack_1 assests. Gogo12 added these to the map, and they certainly helped make it interesting and worth playing.

Had it for around a month or two; since I'm the only staff member I figured I should just go ahead and pick it up on Amazon on the cheap so that I could be fair to the SWBF1 modders.

Who knows? This site has been very slow as of late. Anyway, Mav *would* go and get BF1 *right* when I quit BF1 modding to go to BF2. Roll Eyes (sarcastic)

You can find the BF1 or BF2 mod tools right here. Just use the search box and you'll find 'em.

I'd suggest signing up on Gametoast and reading the modding tutorials and FAQ threads there. There's alot of patches and fixes you'll need to actually get the stupid tools working. wink

(BTW, I hope that's not violating rule 6, but then again, most of the admins here are admins on Gametoast. LOL)

If you don't already have an Addon folder in your GameData folder, create a new one by right clicking, slect new, then folder.
