| Flooded Oil Refinery (2.0) - File Description |
 |
Description:
"Flooded Oil Refinery," by yuke5, is a newer version of his previous map of the same name. Whereas before the map was a fairly straightforward - competent, but uninspiring - conquest map, now it's a little more convoluted, and it is all the better for it.
The difference between the two maps is really night and day. The basic theme is the same: a platforms map on Kashyyyk surrounded by the "refinery" props. The mood is notably different, though, and there's a lot more up-and-down in the map's design. The trees also move in a little closer, and I think this helps to sell the "Kashyyyk" feel.
The author mentions that the sides were a little intentionally unbalanced in the GCW era. I wouldn't normally advise this, although when I played it I noticed little difference. I'm a little leery of this choice, but it seems to have worked out at least okay in this case.
All in all, this is a vast improvement over the previous version of the map. I wouldn't necessarily say that it's a "great" map, but it's definitely pretty good - it plays well and it looks nice - so go ahead and give it a try.

The map itself has been greatly improve since the last version. I have tweaked the map's design, as well as completely overhauling its ambiance. Skins made by EA711 and Dragin63 are also featured for the Clone Wars era, and I have tweaked the GCW conquest to feature an outnumbered Rebel force versus the Empire. The rebels may have less soldiers, but they do have far more wookies on the field at once, and gameplay remains fairly balanced.
MAP ITSELF:
My first map, Flooded Oil Refinery wasn't all that great, and I've decided to fix that.
This is a complete redubbing of my earlier map, and I hope you enjoy it.
CHANGES SINCE LAST MAP:
1. Rebuilt from scratch
2. Added side routes.
3. Added additional scenery.
4. Added new skins for the Republic and CIS
5. Added a sky
6. Messed around with lighting.
7. Added a poorly made minimap
CREDITS:
Dragon63 - Republic Skins
EA711 - CIS Skins
Bertie and Dragonum - Custom Models
Fierfek - Creating the tutorial that launched me into SWBFII modding
GameToast Community: For being helpful, awesome, and putting up with me. Seriously, I couldn't thank you guys enough.
Installation Instructions: Extract the content of the OI2 folder into your addon folder. If you do not have a folder called “addon” follow these steps:

2. Navigate to LucasArts
3. Navigate to StarWarsBattlefront II
4. Double click on “GameData”
5. Right click and create a folder called “addon” (without quotes)
6.Extract OI2 to addon.
7.The same goes for most mod maps, unless you are specifically told otherwise.
Story:
CW: The CIS gathered their forces behind Republic lines. Republic scouts learned of the gathering force and informed Master Yoda. Yoda led a strike force on clones deep into the forests of Kashyyyk to stop the attack before it happens.
GCW: Slavery has reached its peak in Kashyyyk. Rebel forces have gathered to strike at a key point in Imperial Wookie trafficking. Lives and freedom lay in the balance.
ONE LAST THING:
IF YOU DISTRIBUTE THIS MAP AND DO NOT GIVE ME CREDIT AND/OR SAY YOU MADE IT, YOUR BUTT IS IN BIG TROUBLE. Just wanted to get clear on that. Oh, and you can distribute the map and not let me know as long as you credit me and all the people I credited. | |

I hope you guys enjoy the map! Oh, and on the unbalancedness. I gave the imps more reinforcement but added a larger amount of wookies. I hope you guys enjoy! |

LEFT_SOCK Joined: April 28th, 2011 Posts: 82 | I liked the map a lot (especially the new "jungle" skins, its goes with the envirornment quite well), it's a vast improvement over the first. It was a little hard to see though, because of the darkness and fog of the map. I like the multiple levels, and everything being closer together. Some neat things to add/change would be to get rid of some fog (although this just may be me, maybe others can see fine) and maybe add a campaign mode-something like the Republic has to de-flood the oil refinery? Anyway, cool map, it'll stay in my Addon folder |
