fiodis Joined: January 24th, 2008 Posts: 359 | I'm afraid Vegati's tutorial was not at all as good as I thought it would be from reading the title. There are no paragraphs, so it hurts your eyes to read. Virtually the only break from a monotone column is a spot where he tries to make a clumsy representation of a popup window. Also, spelling mistakes make it look bad in other people's eyes. Since when was "Yavin" spelt "Yaving"?
Also, you barely go into any detail. You don't at all say how to fix what you call "map-killers", things that lower your map's rating.
From the spot on how to change terrain and sky, which, according to you, are "map-killers":
"Those annoying Yaving
textures and sky. Those are the map killers. (unless you're doing
Yavin) For Pete's sake, CHANGE THEM! Make them Hoth, Mustafar, or even
Endor, but PLEASE, do not use those textures they have been seen far
too many times in a map. Okay after you've changed the terrain and sky,
let's add some objects."
I don't hear you talking about sky files, skydomes, textures, tiles, munges, cleans, remunges or anything like that. All you do is say, "change them". You assume the modder knows how.
Ask yourself: if the modder already knows how to change a sky/terrain, wouldn't he have done it already if he wanted to? Hence, what use is your tutorial?
Also, demanding credit....why? I understand that you took your time to type this up, but what if someone doesn't credit you? How could anyone ever possibly tell? Before you demand credit for any file, stop and think: is this so easy that anyone could make it? Look at my "Clones with Kamas" file for example: I do not demand credit in the ReadMe beacuse I know someone could take the time to learn how to hex-edit themselves. It's not a complicated process. The file I uploaded was just a reference or a shortcut, a timesaver.
In short, on a scale of 1-10, 0.04/10. |

Granted some people(if not all) are having trouble with it, but none the less that doesn't mean you go berserk and butcher the guy. He's just a first time modder. He'll get better as he gains more experience.
For now, it is a good concept. I hope you can improve upon it.
Best of Luck,

"I mean at least he even took the time to make"? Decent tutorials take over an hour to make, and good tutorials even longer, except when it's a tutorial about something simple. Making a good map is anything but simple. Vegati is in over his head.

We can all hope. |

vivaEspain From: (Córdoba, AndalucÃa) Joined: September 14th, 2008 Posts: 349 | Question 1: To create maps in Battlefront you need Zero Editor, the links are below.
Question 2: A tutorial is included with Zero Editor, so read it. You may not uderstand them maybe because they are in english, so in that case, search for spanish tutorials in internet or ask someone to traduce it for you.
By the way, you should ask this things at Filefront forums.
I hope this is useful to you.

Darth_Squoobus From: (Kansas) Joined: June 5th, 2009 Posts: 55 | This is almost as bad as the other tutorials in documetion, and pretty much all they say is:
"Go into your parents's room, find their wallet, take out the green pieces of paper with faces on them, and mail them all to us." |

Slater77 From: Joined: September 11th, 2010 Posts: 18 | I worked on this all day today just trying to get the thing to load. and of course it never worked. I have all of the patches and it still says missing .dll file. i gave up on this one and moved to the unsupported version at about 11:00 pm and at least it booted up. but wen i tried to start editing with it, it said that i must have SWBF installed witch i do. this whole proses is getting on my nerves. why cant someone release a simple map editing program! I want to make some maps for myself. |
