"Marvel4's Era Mod" is pretty straightforward - it's an era mod made by Marvel4.

The mod looks nice and has a high level of polish. It is a lot like Battlefront Extreme, for all that entails. Because while it is a solid, consistent piece of work, like Battlefront Extreme it appears to be a lot of flash with not a lot of really new substance.

And of course, that's completely fine, if that's what you're looking for in a mod. Not to draw the comparison out too long, but there are obviously lots of people who enjoy Battlefront Extreme, despite its relatively plain additions to the game. There are consequently lots who could probably enjoy this - it does do a lot in terms of the requisite clone legion skins, the updated models, etc.

One real issue I saw with this was the essential lack of difference between the units. The author bills it as "balance," and while balance is definitely something that should be sought after, I think there are better ways to balance things than by making everything feel functionally identical. It didn't contribute to the feeling of "seen that before" by not having any really unique units.

Also, the unlock requirements for some of the units were, I thought, a little silly. The heroes in this mod aren't heroes, they're unlockable units - at fifty points. The unlockable classes scale down from there - 40, 30, 20, 10 - and really, any unlock above about 20 points seems pretty excessive. The heroes are functionally unavailable until the battle is nearly over (depending on your rate of points acquisition), but even besides that, I think heroes as unlockables is fundamentally flawed - once you can unlock them, there's no reason to change from them. By not having heroes as a "appear-once-every-so-often" bonus, the heroes don't feel as special anymore.

Now there are a handful of criticisms above, and don't let that turn you away from the mod - as mentioned above, it is well-polished and visually appealing. It's definitely an acceptable mod; my criticism is borne out of the fact that if I'm going to download a big mod, I want it to be exceptional. I don't think this is that, yet.

However - it's not a huge download, and any mod of this size is always worth trying out, simply for the breadth of content available. Go ahead and take a look at the screenshots below, and give the mod a try!
