The Zombie Apocalypse - File Description

Description:
"The Zombie Apocalypse," by MetalcoreRancor, is an explosion of colors and noise and other strange things.

Ostensibly, "The Zombie Apocalypse" is a zombie-themed map(s) with a set of rotating areas in which one can fight (it is essentially a handful of maps). This has the author's trademark... strangeness to it, though. While I can definitely respect the innovation displayed in creating such a unique set of environments, by and large trying to play this feels like an assault on my (personal) senses.

There's some sort of screamo music, which from the get-go is a real turnoff. There are also all sorts of strange colors. Just everywhere. As far as actual bugs go, there aren't a terribly huge amount, but there are still noticeable places where floating objects can be seen in different levels.

The biggest part of my enjoyment, or lack thereof, is just my subjective experience. This is frankly so incredibly strange and weird-looking. The wave modes last for so long (but you can exploit the hordes of AI easily, simply by standing on high ground) that by the time you approach the end, some sort of ennui has set in, making the death at the hands of the zombies seem like sweet release.

But be sure to play through at least one of the modes to completion, as the author has included an "extra" available for anyone who does. See the readme for further description and the screenshots for further detail.

The Zombie Apocalypse - Readme
Readme File:
What began as a small mini-game in theItFactor's latest project at the time, turned into something much, much bigger. I soon realized, in the autumn of 2009 that this would deserve a map of it's own. A map dedicated to zombies, and the killing of them. It was a simplistic design at first, now sprawled across 6 different enviroments. What began with 3 or 4 different zombies now approachs over 15.

But even in it's current large estate this map project is not what I wanted it to be, it is not finished in it's current state to my liking. But instead of restarting the whole thing without publishing it, I decided to put up what assets I had and see how people enjoy it. I will be making a new map slated for summer time that will make this pale in comparison, but I wanted people to enjoy what I had made over the course of two long years. It's an ode to all of my previous machinations since I began modding in 2007.

This is not stated elsewhere but the maps are:
CW Conquest; The Complex
GCW Conquest; The Killing Fields
CW CTF; The City
GCW CTF; The Carnival
CW Assault; The Cavern
GCW Assault; The Factory
Hunt: Secret mode.

Cavern has 4 different random settings to land in.
Some of the zombie sets are still randomized, but a lot of the maps have preset zombie sets.

The weapons are not localized and some float, but you can tell what the weapon is based on it's name.

Some of the maps are not perfect.. But variety is something I strived for and I think the sheer amount of it counters the problems that some enviroments have.

Multiplay is at best, try at your own discretion. It is a global issue that whenever you play with others, the host will not crash but everyone else will at a certain wave. When people rejoin, it will go smooth for them from then on. I don't know how to fix that error. It's about the 11th or 13th wave.

I will take feedback and input ideas, suggestions into my new map project, so please feel free to send it to me. My steam is professordread, my xfire is farshotxxl.

Enviromental Hazard Journal
Fellow survivers, I am writing this guide to help warn you of the perrils facing us in these dark times.
We all can remember the day that the darkness fell upon the soil of society. Ever since, the horde grows in number and ferocity day by day.
Don't forget hope.. For if
we hope for what we see not, then do we with patience wait for it? I hope for the day that we can live without zombies gnawing on our children, though I don't see it now.
I digress, here is a list of the less-infested zones you can run for.

The Caverns

---------------------------------------
Zombies

There are several different varieties of Zombies and each one is unique.

Immediate threat Zombies

Martyr: Distinctive by the characteristic of a bulkier and larger version of the base Zombie,
the Martyr charges forward with it's sole purpose in life to explode in your face. Shoot on sight.

Zombie Queen: The Zombie Queen is hard to see in a dark place, and approaches with malice intentions. If you let the Queen close enough, she will preform acrobatic attacks, each one progressing in a chain that does not end. As each strike is preformed, the area around her is distorted, disorienting anyone caught in its radius.

Gut Buster: Gut busters are large, overweight zombies that will open their stomachs to launch acid at you from a close distance.

Leaper: Designed with one lethal purpose, to get in to you as fast as possible and never relent until you are dead. They are prone to mid-flight attacks and will follow you.

Skeleton Grave Warrior: Although passive by nature, the Grave Warrior has a way of crossing distances unexpectedly and if they get close you are in trouble. They are prone to mid-flight attacks and often play dead.

Prolonged threat Zombies

Zombie Children: You might see them as harmless white-red balls at first, but when they get close, you know why you should have shot them. They are fast and can leap above your head and knock you down.

Crawler Zombies: One of the most passive zombies, they are equipped with an ability to drop lifeless for a moment of time, completely invulnerable to the affects of bullets. But careful because they can turn violent at any given time.

Angered Zombies: These zombies are a plague when they get near you, as their relentless attacks do not stop.

Infected Mutants: Armed with both infected breath and a knockdown power, these winged insectoid zombies can be a living nightmare to find, and defeat.
