Description:
The_Nasal_Abyss's new map, "Training Installation IC-177," is a colorful map designed to represent an overtly virtual environment. It's composed of a series of floating, multicolored blocks, and in that it has a fairly unique design.
While it's not necessarily representative of something shown in the canon, it has shades of the virtual worlds shown as training simulators on Kamino (which surely is part of the justification the author gives). It feels somewhat similar to this earlier map, and it is similarly enjoyable.
I like the use of lots of color. It's pleasing to the eye to see lots of vivid color, and it's a nice change from maps made with stock Battlefront assets, which tend to skew towards the muted and realistic. I have very few complaints about the map - it's solidly-put-together and fun to play on. The loading screen is pretty ugly - it looks like it's suffering from some severe compression artifacts (tip: don't use the automated load screen tool if you see your load screens looking like that - do them manually). Also, the sheer volume of white, shiny, and glowing surfaces on the map can be distracting. I think the floors would have worked better if they were maybe a different color, or if there had been some kind of marking on the floor to delineate paths.
All in all, it's a really nice map and certainly worth a download. Take a look at the screenshots below and then give it a try.

Author's Notes:
1. This is my first map.
2. If you don't have the Dark Times II mod installed, don't try to play the extra era. It most likely will crash your game.
That is all. I really don't have much else to say, except please enjoy my map!
Short Description:
Training Installation IC-177 is exactly what it sounds like; it's a live action training program used by the Republic and the Imperials to hone soldiers' teamwork, communication skills, and ability to complete objectives quickly and efficiently. TI-IC-177 has been the most popular combat simulator for nearly two decades, because of it's non-linear nature and interesting aesthetic properties. This training program is one of many located at the Academy of Carida, presently. The training program originated at Kamino, of course, and quickly became a favorite among the higher ups because it yielded better results. It is still being used today to eradicate wretched, rebel scum!
It's made to be as balanced as possible to both teams, and has a very illinear nature to it that is rarely seen in other Battlefront II maps.

How To Install:
Simply extract the FCS folder into the addon folder in your Star Wars Battlefront directory. It should look something like this: "..../star wars battlefront ii/GameData/addon" If you don't have an addon folder, simply make one!

Posts: 28 | I agree with everyone above, the map is great. Just one little nitpick. Phase 1 clones would've fit in more with the training program, at least in my mind. That doesn't keep me from giving it a 10/10 though. |
