Clone wars, Clone wars, Clone wars, Clone wars. Everything is clone wars, now. What happened to Galactic Civil War? The times of pure bad***ness? ... nevermind. I vote civil.
Same, Galactic Civil War. You can't beat the time of the Super Star Destroyer's.

WHOA..........................Clone Wars, guys? Really?!?!?! I concur with Median...I mean yeah the Galactic Civil War era is, like, the best. And, well, that era's Star Destroyers are the best. Old Republic Star Destroyers are pretty cool, too, though. Honestly, I can't say much about the Legacy era Star Destroyers, as I don't really know what those Star Destroyers look like at all. By the way I voted for Galactic Civil War era Star Destroyers, as they rock and are total classics.
Imperials FTW. The republic is tight and all, but I perfer GCW era.

everybody said civil war, but the clone wars is winning.
civil war- SSD, SD, victory star destroyer, victory-2 class frigate, acclamators.
clone wars/old republic- venator, acclamator.
legacy- eclipse, new republic SD.
in my opinion, the civil war is better.
Oh my, this is a tough decision . . . I think the Interdictor-class (Leviathan) of ship from the Old Republic era was particularly epic looking, but Super Star Destroyers (including Eclipse) provide a worthy match-up . . .
. . . the Leviathan wins. +1 for Old Republic era.
Clone Wars? Really? More children I bet. Still stuck up with their pathetic Clone Wars TV shows. You know, I have two daughters, and they have never mentioned the SLIGHTEST interest in the Clone Wars TV shows. They are just old enough to understand what the characters talk about, but they don't care. Now back on topic: Whatever has the Allegiance and the Titan. No doubts about it. You can not beat the Allegiance and the Titan. Or the Eclipse and Sovereign and Vengeance. Everything I just mentioned. They win. End of discussion.
Very hard one. I like every kind of Stardestroyer. But in my opinion the destroyers while the time of the clone wars look the best (for example : Venator!!! :thumbsup
But the civil-war-destroyers are also very impressive.

I can't say much about about Old / New Republic, because I don't know these two eras very well (shame on me  ).

i like the clone wars SD's, but i like the galactic civil war better.
I agree with everyone that its ridiculous clone wars is winning. Just because clone wars is "the thing" with all the star wars fans it seems like. I always thought galactic civil war was cooler, it was just grittier and felt more like a space adventure.
*sigh* The Old Republic era isn't getting the love it deserves . . .

I have never seen those dumb cartoons and I think the Republic ships are cool.
Why do all you GCW guys freak out because of the clonewars? I like the clonewars more than GCW and that´s not because of the cartoon! The republic is just more stylish in my opinion and their Capitalships look much cooler that the impereal ones. Even the ones of the CIS look good. But in my opinion those mon-calamari ships are as ugly as the butt of a Wampa!

First off, learn how to spell Imperial. Second, Mon Calamari Cruisers and CIS ships have nothing to do with this conversation, so leave them out, third, you're obviously young. You don't like a combat unit because of the way it looks. You like it because of the way it works, how it holds up in battle. Yes, the Republic is more stylish, but when it comes right down to it, here are the facts: 1, the Empire has more advanced technology. 2, the Empire is smarter. 3, the Empire, and all other associated factions were run way better than the Republic. End of discussion.
The Eclipse
Perhaps because when they brought out "Star Wars: A new Hope", it was in... what? 70s? 80s? My point is, the special effects weren't so advance as it is now. And now, with all the awsomeness of Special Effects, George Lucas made the Republic look mind-blowing with new tecnology with "Revenge of the Sith". There's your style. Now, concider this. Would you still be liking the CW just because of what they are? Or because of the epicness if "The Phantom menace" Would've been done in the time of "A new Hope"?

Besides that, simplicity and blandness is also stylish in its own right. Imperial ships may have drab grey coloring, but this also serves to show they are focused on something more important then "looking good" like the Republic cares about.

Ty, the campaign in BFII had empire vs. clones. so there. and i see where the clone trooper fan is coming from, all the kids think that the prequel trilogy has newer tech. well, if you pay attention to the chronology, you will see that the empire obviously had newer technology. they came in later.
I didn´t mean that the republic is better. But I just like them more! The questions wasn´t: "What do you think is better?" The question was: "What do you like most?". And I just like the clonewars more. And I like their capital ships more. I did never say that they´re better than the impereal ones.

Well you blame me for spelling wrong a word in a language that isn´t my homelanguage. As you can see I´m a german. And I´m very young. I´m very good at egnlish for my age. And now: Would you be able to spell everything perfect in german? I don´t think so! But I wouldn´t blame you for that!
If you really wanna now I´m just 16. So really young! And? I´m old enough for this game and so old enough for this side. And I usually don´t write anything without thinking of it before. (USUALLY... not always >.<
And I just want to say: I wrote my opinion! If it´s not your opinion: Good for you! I mean everyone has the right to have and tell about his own opinion. At least in Europe, but I don´t think it´s different in America.

Your opinion. I respect it. What I do not stand is the fact that clone lovers such as you (don't take this pesonally, for I have no intention to offend) is that since Episodes 1-3 came out with State-Of-The-Art Special Effects and green screen stuff, it makes them look way more epic and mind-blowing than the Special effects of Episodes 4-6. This make the Novice fans (clone lovers) love the CW movies and dislike the classic movies, especialy with the despicable series running (WTF!? Ahsoka goes to the Dark Side, then gets killed, but was resurected!? By a SITH!? Just stay dead, goddamit!). My point is that people don't appresiate the classics because they are "old-school" in a way to put it, therefore, have no interests in seeing crappy graphics, and prefer the modern movies. You like the clones because you simply like them, and I respect that. Others like them because of the modern grafics and stuff. But, like I said in my pevious post. They would be saying thing like "The rebels FTW!" or "Rebels forever" or things like that if the movies were made in opposite timelines.
Woah, woah, woah . . . Ahsoka Tano was killed!? VICTORY! I've always hated that she-bat. Her only redeeming quality is her lightsaber technique.
Well, I guess you´re right and many people like the clone wars only because of the effects and so on. But not me. And please don´t understand me wrong! I like the GCW, too! And of course the Imperial Star Destroyer has more firepower and propably a better armour than the Republican Attack Cruiser. But I just LIKE the Republican Attack Cruiser more because of its style. And it´s firepower, armor and shield was enough to beat the CIS.
I like the clone wars because there also are my favourite Jedi. Anakin, Obi-Wan, Mace Windu and and and... And the clones are by THEIR side. I just love the clones. Imperial or Republic isn´t important. I like both. But the republic just more because they are still on the Jedi´s side.

No median, I hope you can understand me a bit more. I totally understand why you like the Empire (or just their Star Destroyers).
They are the best armed army ever seen in Star Wars.

Well: I didn´t watch the NEW movie with ash-kan or however you spell her name right. Reason? The new Clone Wars movie just doesn´t fit with the real Star wars. Anakin isn´t a Jedi-Master but gets an apprentice??!! WTF?!
I prefer the old two-part- Clone Wars movie. It fits with the Episodes, you see why Grievous has a... let´s call it "breath-problem" and it´s sometimes funny.
I think you can now understand why I like the Clone wars so much. (Especialy the CLONES themselves. Droids are just funny, but non-skilled^^)

@27. Call me nuts, but I actually like the old movie effects better than new movie effects. They're slower, but look more real. You can easily tell every cursed thing is animated in the new movies...
Sorry Yammka, she got resurrected like ten minutes after she died. Maybe less, I didn't watch the episode.
I prefer the Empire, and one of the reasons is that very first scene in Episode IV. Anyone who says that wasn't a bad*** introduction to Star Destroyers has a problem. Venators are OK, but they look a little too perfect. So, I choose Empire.
I definitely prefer the Galactic Civil War Star Destroyers over the Clone Wars ones, and not just the Imperial ones, the New Republic's New Class Modernization Program ships are also great. Don't get me wrong, I would gladly command a Venator-class Star Destroyer any day, but a Nebula-class Star Destroyer is just impressive.
@Clone Trooper Fan: I completely agree with that assessment about the "new" Clone Wars too. Ahsoka Tano doesn't fit into the story, and *cough*The Clone Wars*cough*, in general, is just ridiculous and destructive to the saga.

The New Republic should be in the Galactic Civil War and never associated with the *cough*Legacy*cough* era.
How does the New Republic not fit in with the Legacy Era. It was created after the fall of the Empire so that the galaxy wouldn't go into turmoil with no leadership. I don't see how it doesn't fit in with the Legacy Era.

I gotta say, the Empire's ships ('cept for the run of the mill TIE fighter) kicked butt. Their technology level, army, navy, looks and style, pretty much everything were awesome. I love the GCW SDs. So they're definitely getting my vote.

Older effects, much better era I think. I almost kinda like the older effects, like Ty said they almost look a bit more realistic. Many people DON'T like the GCW because it's older, and for a little while in my early Star Wars years, I was one of those people. But I am a die-hard GCW fan. Star Destroyers aside, REBELS ALL THE WAY! (And that opinion was SWG inspired, yes)

I respect your opinion as well, and must agree that there ARE certain aspects that I like about the Clone Wars era such as the Jedi being more abundant and the clones fighting for them, but I will always love GCW more (Much because of the incredible 3 years I had on Star Wars Galaxies. I'm ALWAYS gonna TOTALLY love that era/game!!!!!)
Also, for the most part you're right, Imperial troops/officers aren't evil, their leaders are. Of course, there are regular people who are "evil" in the Empire.
Anyone else noticing a Nazi Germany-Empire similarity?
People forced to fight for someone who is more-or-less evil, but in some respects can offer a better life/government after everyone had been in practical turmoil for years? Hopefully people'll see where I'm coming from with this.
WW2 fans/junkies, if you're here... I salute you, and ask that everyone give me your thoughts on the above.

Posts: 54 | @AK141: Because the New Republic is still in the Galactic Civil War era because the GCW ended a few years before the Yuuzhan Vong War which is in the New Jedi Order era. One could make a case of the New Republic and Legacy being separate.
@Wolf82: That isn't a coincidence, it is common knowledge that George Lucas's creation of the Galactic Empire was heavily influenced by Nazi Germany and the Roman Empire rising from the ashes of the Roman Republic. The best example of this being the stormtroopers which was also the name of Nazi troops. |
